Illusions / delusions of Being.

powered by ODEO
music: Btetlouj el Deni / Fairouz

- What do you mean defensive?
- Defensive. I mean you, everything about you; the way you act, the way you talk.
Fuck man, the way you defend your projects. You talk about your architecture like it is your soul, your baby… You defend it fiercely.
...

- That’s… That’s how I was brought up.
- What! They taught you to become defensive, and act like an ass all the time?
- No, but for as long as I can remember, and for every day of my life, I had to defend what was mine...

Starting with my country, my independence, my freedom, my safety, my reputation, my happiness, my love…
...
My very own reason of being!

P.S. how are you guys still able to use odeo? I got an email from those people saying "byebye, we're not uploading anymore"

Hey Z_, being defensive can play on some people's nerves which is ok. As long as you do not attack anybody or offend them. Unfortunately, poeple mistake offensive with defensive, they attack under the pretext of defending themselve... i don't think you are this type, not from what i read...

Having grown up in Italy (where every other person is an architect, or studying to become one), I have had a fair exposure to that profession. And I have never EVER met an architect who doesn't regard his projects like his babies, to which everything else takes second place.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to defend what's yours (beliefs, opinions, freedom...) with tooth and nail. In fact, I think it's commendable -- there are too many people out there who don't give a damn one way or the other. As long as it doesn't make you too closed off to realize that people don't necessarily want to take it away from you or destroy it. It's all about balance, isn't it?

"Heyda jawna...heyda nehna"
The lebanese pple everywhere have this reputation because they stick firmly to their ambitions and beleifs.
Here in France they keep on saying "vous les libanais...ah la la vous vous accrochez grave!"

I like your drawings a lot _z. :D

And Eve me too, I'm not able to upload on odeo since yesterday!!

you create a beautiful object from pure imagination, project it onto a city, and change, for the better I hope, the life the inhabitants of the city. How can you not be attached to your architecture.
One of my teachers, used to go nuts everytime I said "my project" instead of "the project".

"As long as it doesn't make you too closed off to realize that people don't necessarily want to take it away from you or destroy it"
well that's beautiful. But I think few are those who aren't paranoid about the things they really love and care about.

Or is it just me?

thank you... I guess.

protective is not always accepted by others. sometimes it is not even accepted by the thing we think we are protecting.
thank you, and welcome to urban_memories.

but is that normal? it bugs a lot of ppl.

yes I used to listen to Fairouz, way before leaving to Canada. I see where you want to go with this and I disagree. It is accentuated by the fact that you are away, but it is not the trigger.
