I missed this virtual connection I have with fellow readers and writers. Fellow artists, who each in their own way, are more inspiring than anything.
Ice and snow are starting to thaw, making way to gray rain and annoying slush. Montréal witnessed record snowfalls this year, and man it was long. Apparently, the Island of Montréal spends 1million dollars every day on cleaning snow. This year, this costly process was lengthy and slow.
Spring is here now. It was announced on the 19th here in Montreal, while it only starts on the 21st in Lebanon...
It coincides with Mother’s Day (where I come from).
Happy Mother’s Day mom!
The past few weeks were pretty rough. The weather was not helping, I had a major deadline for a mega project I am in charge of at work, and dad gave us a big big scare.
During my last visit to Beirut, dad had to undergo brain surgery. He had been battling benign brain tumors for quite a while now, and last Christmas he had to go under the knife for the second time in a year. He recovered well, however his memory and mobility were slightly hampered.
While having his routine scan last month, his doctor recommended immediate surgery for the third time. Recovery was not fast this time, and the poor weary man spent two weeks completely asleep (almost comatose) in the Intensive Care.
He is doing much better now. He is waking up, and was moved to recovery room. He ate Jello and Mhallabié. He should be out of the hospital by next week.
Medicine is funny; I thought we were on our way to find answers for everything and anything, but still there are always new things that emerge to keep us baffled and clueless. His tests were sent across continents to Germany, the U.S, and here in Canada.
They say his case is unique… well it is true, he is unique, and he is a wonderful man.
I am lucky to still have him smiling.

Happy Mother’s Day to YOUR dear mothers, to YOU mothers, and to my wonderful mom; the strong and caring woman, toughing it up with dad. She never left his side... Not for a second.
